World Horse Pair Championships Kecsement, Hungary

The 2009 Horse Pair championships will be held next weekend from Thurs 20th to Sun 23rd Aug.

For the first time ever, Ireland will be represented by a full team of 3 drivers, Barry Capstick, Edwin Bryson and Folke Rohrssen.

The Chef d’Equipe for the team is Charles Powell.

Barry Capstick, left, has represented Ireland at Four in Hand and Pairs world Championships.

At the 2005 World Pairs in Salzburg he achieved a tremendous 4th place in Dressage driving his bay horses Wilson and Ruben. Barry brings the same horses to Kecsemet along with another of his experienced team horses, Turbo.

Edwin Bryson is a very experienced international competitor,  represented Ireland at several World Single Driving Championships. Before taking up driving he also competed at international level in ridden 3 day events.

In 2002 he finished 6th overall in the World Single Horse Championships at Conty in France, driving his Irish bred horse Bravo.  Edwin brings Bravo and his offspring Bravado to Kecsemet for his first attempt at the World Pairs.

Folke Rohrssen has been competing nationally in horse pairs class for the past few years and now competes in his first world championships at Kecsement with his Dutch Gelderlander horses.
